Approved as amended by ED's memoranda to OMB of 7/15/94 and 7/25/94. addition, ED has agreed to meet the following conditions: -- ED shall continue progress on developing on-line reporting capabili for this report, building on its transition to reporting by diskette a an option this year. ED will develop with schools the capacity for on line transmission of the information, to be implemented for the next collection cycle (fall 1996). -- Upon reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act, ED will revise the methodology for collecting data on students with disabilities on this form to be consistent with the new law in a manner that minimizes burden on schools and school districts. -- ED shall use the information collected in response to item 7 on the school district form, and item 3 on the school form, to assist in the targeting of compliance reviews. ED shall not use the information in published statistical summaries of the report, given the methodologica differences across schools and districts in how the data are calculate -- ED will consider the potential utility and burden of collecting information on suspension and corporal punishment for students with limited English proficiency in determining whether to propose requesti such data in future reports. -- If a large percentage of schools do not break out subcategories of mental retardation, ED shall reassess the utility of this break out.
