Dear Cotton Warehouseman,
Enclosed, please find your annual “Cotton in Private Storage, August 2022” survey form. The
USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) requests that you complete the form
and return it no later than August 15, 2022.
We are requesting information on cotton in private storage as of the end of the marketing year in
order to supplement data captured by the Bales Made Available for Shipment (BMAS) program
operated by USDA’s Farm Service Agency. Stocks reported on this survey should not include
cotton which has active electronic warehouse receipts in the Electronic Warehouse Receipt
(EWR) Inc. system as of midnight, July 30, 2022.
You may respond to the survey using one of the following methods:
• By mail. Complete the enclosed forms and mail them back in the envelope provided.
• Online. Use the unique Survey Code listed on the questionnaire to access your report
at www.agcounts.usda.gov
• By fax. Complete the enclosed forms and fax them to 1-855-415-3687.
Survey responses are only published in aggregate so that no individual respondent or operation
can be identified. Results of the survey will be reported September 1, 2022 in the Cotton System
