This study examines the impact of Classroom Assessment for Student Learning (CASL), a professional development program in classroom assessment,on student and teacher outcomes. Participating schools will be randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group. Each school in the intervention group will include a team of three to six Grade 4 and 5 mathematics teachers who will implement the CASL program. Teachers in the control schools will engage in their regular professional development activities. The study will take place during the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years.
