Other: 1850-0826 is an information collection related to Impact Study: Lessons in Character Program (LIC) (REL-West, IES). Institute of Education Sciences has requested addition of 9 items to the Teacher Survey (1st follow up version) regarding teacher collaboration within schools as part of ED’s contamination sub-study (previously proposed to OMB).
The goal of the sub- study is to gauge whether the frequency and nature of interactions among teachers may lead to contamination in a study in which teachers are randomly assigned to treatment and control groups within the same school. If teachers frequently talk to one another about topics related to education and teaching, implement ideas suggested by other teachers, or share curriculum materials, then greater risk exists that randomizing classrooms could lead to contamination. On the other hand, if relatively few teachers report that they modify their classroom practices as a result of interactions with colleagues, the risk of contamination when randomizing classrooms within schools would seem to be less.
The survey questions focus on both formal and informal interactions among teachers, and on whether teachers take actions based on these interactions. Addition of these items will increase the teacher burden for Teacher Survey (follow up version) from approximately 15 minutes to 25 minutes and the yearly data collection burden from 15,418 hours to 15,460 hours.
