Abstract: THE PURPOSE OF THIS SURVEY IS TO COLLECT INFORMATION REGARDING THE SERVICES AND RESOURCES THAT PUBLIC LIBRARIES OFFER CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS. THE DATA GATHERED WILL BE USED BY THE DEPARTMENT'S OFFICE OF LIBRARY PROGRAMS TO ASSESS PUBLIC LIBRARIES AS THEY RELATE TO THE NATIONAL EDUCATION GOALS. INFORMATION GATHERED WILL ALSO BE USED TO UPDATE TWO PREVIOUS SURVEYS OF THE SAME TITLE.
