analyses and reports that result from this data collection, the
limitations of these data, which will be part of a larger ED study
of postsecondary education for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
Specificall ED will not collect information on demographic
characteristics or student outcomes for this population; the data
only measure incidence. -- ED shall determine whether more
comprehensive study of this population should be funded, including
comparison of outcomes for the deaf and hard-of-hearing with
outcomes for the general population. ED shall submit a plan and
timetable concerning this determination as soo as possible, but no
later than March 19, 1993.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS SURVEY IS TO
COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT THE NUMBER OF DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING
STUDENTS (AS SELF-IDENTIFIED) ENROLLED AT POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION
INSTITUTIONS AND THE SUPPORT SERVICES THAT ARE PROVIDED TO THESE
STUDENTS BY THE INSTITUTIONS. RESULTS WILL BE INCORPORATED INTO A
CONGRESSIONALLY MANDATED STUDY. THE INSTITUTIONAL RESPONDENT WILL
BE THE INDIVIDUAL MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE
