1) As agreed to by NIH and OMB, the agency will decrease the
payment to participants in the six-month follow-up to $10.00. 2)
The Agency will use pictures of women instead of men in the props
shown to participants. 3)NIH project officers should contin to
monitor, coordinate, and if applicable, contribute information to
the PHS Task Force on Improving Medical Criteria for Disability
Determination.

S HEALTH, ELDERLY, EPIDEMIOLOGY' THIS
PROSPECTIVE EDIDEMIOLOGIC STUDH WILL EXAMINE AND FOLLOW, FOR A
PERIOD OF 3 YEARS, 1,000 DISABLED ELDERLY WOMEN LIVING WIHTIN A
DEFINE GEOGRAPHIC AREA IN BALTIMORE CITY AND COUNTY. THE OVERALL
GOAL OF THI STUDY IS TO UNDERSTAND THE CAUSES AND COURSE OF
PHYSICAL DISABILITY IN WOMEN AGE 65 YEARS AND OLDER.
