CONGRESS MANDATED THE COLLECTION OF
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT SURVEY DATA. THE ASSESSMENT OF YOUNG ADULT
LITERACY WILL BE CONDUCTED IN 1985, AND RESULTS WILL YIELD A
PROFILE OF LITERACY FOR THE GROUP AND PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE
EFFECTIVENESS OF THEIR LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND A BASELINE FROM
WHICH TRENDS CAN BE PLOTTED. RESPONDENTS WILL BE A REPRESENTATIVE
SAMPLE OF YOUNG ADULTS, AGES 21-25.
