AmeriCorps is requesting this non-substantive change to bring its AmeriCorps Seniors Evaluation volunteer survey, caregiver survey, and senior companion survey into compliance with Executive Order (EO) 14168 of January 20, 2025, Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government, 90 Fed. Reg. 8615 (January 30, 2025).

Section 2(e) of EO 14168 on Defending Women requires:

Agencies shall remove all statements, policies, regulations, forms, communications, or other internal and external messages that promote or otherwise inculcate gender ideology, and shall cease issuing such statements, policies, regulations, forms, communications or other messages. Agency forms that require an individual’s sex shall list male or female, and shall not request gender identity. Agencies shall take all necessary steps, as permitted by law, to end the Federal funding of gender ideology.

AmeriCorps is therefore requesting this non-substantive change to its these three forms associated with the AmeriCorps Seniors Evaluation (volunteer survey question 57, caregiver survey question 31, and senior companion survey question 31) to edit the question in each form requesting the respondent to identify themselves as male or female to delete the option “I use a different term. Please write in_________.”
