(DoD) information systems or electronic collections of information (referred to as an "electronic collection" for the purpose of this form) that collect, maintain, use,

c. Describe the purpose of this DoD information system or electronic collection and describe the types of personal information about individuals
collected in the system.

IGS provides for the online processing of alimony and child support court-ordered garnishments for Department of Defense (DoD) civilian,
military personnel and e-payroll personnel, commercial garnishments against civilian employees, military commercial debt involuntary
allotments, and Chapter 13 bankruptcies for all military and civilian personnel and division of retirement against military retirees and Former
Spouse Survivor Benefit Plan Deemed Election.
The following PII elements are collected: DoD ID number, employment information, financial information, home/cell phone, mailing/home
address, name(s), official duty address, personal e-mail address, rank/grade, Social Security Number (SSN), work e-mail address, and
bankruptcy information.
d. Why is the PII collected and/or what is the intended use of the PII? (e.g., verification, identification, authentication, data matching, mission-related use,
administrative use)

IGS collects the PII for the purpose of processing court orders for the garnishment of wages per 5 United States Code (U.S.C.) 5520a,
Garnishment of Pay; 10 U.S.C. 1408, Payment of retired or retainer pay in compliance with court orders; 42 U.S.C. 659, Consent by United
States to income withholding, garnishment, and similar proceedings for enforcement of child support and alimony obligations; and 42
U.S.C. 665, Allotments from pay for child and spousal support owed by members of uniform services on active duty. IGS performs a
validation check against all privacy data for the purpose of data matching, verification, and authentication purposes. The intended use of
the PII is mission related for the purpose of processing court orders for the garnishment of wages.
