Scientific Management Training (SMT)
The intramural program of the NCI is one of the largest centers for cancer research in the world, with approximately 250 Principal Investigators and 500
Postdoctoral Fellows. While outstanding scientific research is conducted at NCI, many of the scientists who go on to lead their own laboratories have few
management skills. The Scientific Management Training ($Ml) course focuses on personnel and project management. In the art of supervision section, it is
emphasized that each personnel is unique and should be treated properly to achieve desired outcomes. In the organization section, the development of
successful teams with delegated authority is needed to complete an organizational mission. The goal of the SMT course is to develop the skills needed to
successfully lead a scientific research laboratory. The participation of NCI Pis and Fellows, who need to develop scientific management skills is encouraged.
Registration is limited to 50 participants and will close on June 25, 2021.

This 3 hour course will be offered virtually on June 29, 2021 from 1 :00-4:00 p.m. WebEx details will be shared once registration is confirmed.

Statistical Analysis of Research Data

Statistical Tutorial (ST) - Registration
The NCI Center for Cancer Training announces the Statistical Tutorial course for NIH fellows. Recent advances in cancer biology have resulted in the need for
increased statistical analysis of research data. ST course is designed as a follow up to Statistical Analysis of Research Data (SAAD). The tutorial will apply the
general principles of statistical analysis of research data including descriptive statistics, z- and I-tests of means and mean differences, simple and m u ltiple
linear regression, ANOVA tests, and Chi-Squared distribution. The participation of NIH clinical and postdoctoral fellows who need to conduct statistical
