Dear Colleague,  

 

On behalf of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), I am writing to invite you to participate in a new and exciting strategic planning process. NIDCD selected you to be a part of this process because of your subject matter expertise. We would like you to join us at a virtual Strategic Plan Kickoff Meeting on Monday, July 12, 2021, 2:00-3:30pm (Eastern Time). 

 

The NIDCD will use our new Strategic Plan to help us accomplish our mission and to guide our Institute’s research toward a common vision:   

 

NIDCD Mission:  To conduct and support biomedical and behavioral research and research training in the normal and disordered processes of hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language. 

 

NIDCD Vision:  Advancing the science of communication to improve lives. 

 

The Institute is in the last year of our current NIDCD Strategic Plan (2017-2021), and we are inviting you to help us generate ideas, themes, and objectives for the new 2022-2027 NIDCD Strategic Plan to advance the science of communication to improve lives. 

 

At the virtual Kickoff, we will review our current strategic plan and present data to highlight public health needs.  We would like you to consider the information we present and then use the template attached to this message to send us your visionary ideas.  We seek innovative, forward-thinking, and ambitious goals that you believe are important to advance science, patient care, and well-being within the mission of our Institute.  

 

Everyone will have a chance to review and comment on the draft 2022-2027 NIDCD strategic plan when we share it with you in 2022.  In 2022, we will develop a draft plan based on the input from the July and December 2021 meetings, and share the draft version using a Request for Information (RFI) to collect your feedback and suggestions.
