 | |
| Characteristic | Description |
| Data Source | Safe Drinking Water Act/State Drinking Water Information System (SDWA/SDWIS),or SDWIS-like Data System |
| Purpose | This data set contains the information needed to calculate Environmental Public Health Tracking (EPHT) measures of contaminants in public water supply for arsenic, disinfection byproducts, nitrates, atrazine, di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), radium, tetrachloroethene (tetrachloroethylene) (PCE), trichloroethene (trichloroethylene (TCE), and uranium. Data are derived from state Safe Drinking Water Act databases. The data set consists of two tables:
 1. PWS Inventory.
 2. Drinking Water Quality Sampling Results. |
| Geographic Level | The smallest geographic unit to be represented in this data set is the county. |
| Restrictions | This is not a restricted access data set. Only registered users will have direct access to this data set via the national secure portal. |
| Instruction for Use | This data dictionary is a reference for creating the PWS Inventory data and Drinking Water Quality Sampling results data for submission. Refer to the dataset schemas for the order of variables and final data structure. |
	CDC
estimates the average public reporting burden for this collection of
information as 100 hours per response, including the time for
reviewing instructions, searching existing data/information sources,
gathering and maintaining the data/information needed, and
completing and reviewing the collection of information. An agency
may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond
to a collection of information unless it displays a currently valid
OMB control number. Send comments regarding this burden estimate or
any other aspect of this collection of information, including
suggestions for reducing this burden to CDC/ATSDR Information
