SUBJECT:
Applicability of the Privacy Act: “Generic Clearance Collection of Routine
Customer Feedback”
I have reviewed the NAID submission to the Office of Management and Budget under the
Paperwork Reduction Act. Specifically, this request proposes to solicit feedback on a web-based
resource, NIAID ClinRegs (clinregs.niaid.nih.gov), that provides country-specific clinical research
regulatory information for the purpose of enhancing efficiency and quality in global clinical trials.
To assure that ClinRegs is meeting its objectives, NIAID will solicit feedback via an electronic form
from users about the accuracy of content on the site and as to whether additional information should
be included. Anticipated respondents include, but are not limited to, U.S. and international clinical
researchers (e.g., academic, industry, not-for-profit, and government), pharmaceutical research and
human subjects research regulators, clinical research managers and coordinators, and policy makers.
I have determined that the Privacy Act will apply to this data collection which involves the
collection of personally identifiable information such as name, email address, countries of expertise,
and primary organization affiliation.
This data collection is covered by Privacy Act System of Records 09-90-1802, “HHS
Correspondence, Customer Service, and Contact List Records.”
