I think the proposed collection of information is necessary
for the proper performance of the function CDC because by
using the Criteria for Evaluation for example, to find out the
severity of the illness or related health care visits, the
agency will find out if the particular flu vaccine is actually
working in terms of treating the influenza -like illness(ILI)
in the sample population. Or the other way round, that the
vaccine is not working and needs modification. In
addition, finding out how many days of missed school or work is
also going to provide the agency with great feedback on the
severity of the ILI. I do like the methods that the agency
plans to use to collect data from their target population and
these are by telephone and in-person interviews. Nevertheless,
I do see a few challenges with both methods, for example,
verification of information using the telephone method might
be tricky for the agency, i third party in form of doctor
might be require if the particular individual visited the
doctor's office. This might lead to another challenge which
might require the first party to consent to this arrangement.
In-person interviews is an excellent idea but seems time
consuming and expensive.
