Talent Search grantees must submit the
report annually. The report provides the Department of Education
with information needed to evaluate a grantee's performance and
compliance with program requirements and to award prior experience
points in accordance with the program regulations. The data
collection is also aggregated to provide information on project
participants and program outcomes.
The number of respondents has
increased from 450 up to 478, causing an increase of 448 hours in
the total burden hours over the past grant cycle. The increase in
the number of TS projects funded is a result of an increase in
funding to the Federal TRIO budget that allowed for an increase in
the number of applicants awarded a TS grant under the most recent
TS grant competition. Therefore, the number of projects currently
completing the Talent Search APR is 478 grantees. Furthermore, ten
questions have been added to the existing collection: six questions
to allow grantees to report on the outcome for the new objective on
postsecondary attainment and four questions to allow grantees to
report on the outcomes of the competitive preference priorities
used in the FY 2016 competition for new awards. These additional
questions will result in an increase of two burden hours per
grantee and a total burden increase of 956 hours for all
grantees.
