For programs that report data at the level of the individual participant, TRIO currently uses current and prior-year participants’ identifying information, including Social Security numbers, to link students’ data across years. In the 2016-17 APR reporting period, TRIO plans to shift to randomly generated case numbers that may eventually replace SSNs in the programs’ system of records. For the 2015–16 data collection, the Department will provide each participant’s case number in the final download file of the APR. Beyond downloading the final file, projects will not need to take any action regarding these case numbers in 2015–16. |
