Dear «Rep_First Name, Rep_Last_name»,
Over the last ten years, NOAA Fisheries Services rely on captains like you to make this survey a success. The For-Hire Survey is the official method for collecting recreational catch and effort data from the Atlantic for-hire (charter or party/headboat) fleet. For-hire vessels are sampled weekly from a coast-wide vessel directory to report trip information for the previous week’s fishing activity; catch information is obtained through a dockside/at-sea field survey.
You have been selected to report fishing activity of the «vsl_name»
On week «Begin_Date» through «End_Date»
The enclosed log-sheet can be used to record your trip information during the specified week of fishing (instructions are provided on the back of the log-sheet). Beginning Monday, «Call_Date», we will attempt to contact you by telephone to collect this information or you can:
Log-in into http://forhire.fishingsurvey.com beginning Monday, «Call_Date» using your assigned PIN; or
Schedule
	or initiate a phone interview by calling the following toll-free
	hotline:
<<Contractor
	toll-free number>>;
	or
Fax the enclosed log-sheet to the following toll-free fax number: <<Contractor toll-free number>>; or
Fax the Northeast Region's Vessel Trip Report (NE VTR) report, if you participate in the NE VTR program for the selected week reporting. If we do not receive via fax the NE VTR report, you will be contacted as indicated above.
You can reach me at 301-427-8187 or send an email to ana.valentin@noaa.gov , if you have any questions concerning to any of the alternate reporting options or about the survey operations. Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Ana Valentín, Survey statistician
