Abstract: These 30 forms, covering production, consumption, stocks, and receipts of nonferrous metals commodities, are critical to the metals data collection effort, and are used for military and civilian planning and Federal policy and economic decisions related to the commodities covered in this collection request. Respondents use these forms to supply the USGS with domestic production and consumption data of nonferrous and related nonfuel mineral commodities, some of which are considered strategic and critical. This information will be published as chapters in Minerals Yearbook, monthly Mineral Industry Surveys, annual Mineral Commodity Summaries, and special publications, for use by Government agencies, industry, education programs, and the general public.

Short Statement: We estimate that there will be 4,971 responses totaling 3,683 burden hours. This is a net decrease of 368 responses and 290 burden hours from our previous request of 5,339 responses and 3,973 burden hours. We are reporting a decrease of 97 responses and 44 burden hours as a program change. This results from the addition of one new form and the removal of two forms: • New Form 9-4128-A (Scandium) increase of 10 responses and 10 burden hours. • Removal of Form 9-4054-M (Aluminum) — decrease of 96 responses and 48 burden hours. • Removal of Form 9-4061-A (Cadmium) — decrease of 11 responses and 6 burden hours. We are also reporting a decrease of 271 responses and 246 burden hours as an adjustment. This adjustment is based on our experience in administering this collection along with the types of respondent feedback, discussions, and interactions as described in our answer to item 8 above.
