Postpartum Depression
To Inform Educational Outreach Efforts
RECRUITMENT SCREENER:
1 60-MINUTE TELEPHONE FOCUS GROUP
1 90-MINUTE IN-PERSON FOCUS GROUP
Background
We
are conducting a telephone [in-person] focus group with mothers to
talk about moms’ and children’s health shortly after
birth. We are not selling or promoting any product or service.
Everyone who participates in the focus group will receive $20 [$40
for in-person] as a token of appreciation for your time. The
telephone focus group will last 60 minutes. [The in-person focus
group will last 90 minutes.] The discussion will be audio-recorded
and kept secure to the extent permitted by law. First names only
will be used during the discussion. In the final summary report,
your individual name will never be connected to a comment you make
during the discussion. To see if you qualify to participate in the
focus group discussion, we need to ask you a few questions. These
questions will take less than 5 minutes.

RECRUIT 12 TOTAL PARTICIPANTS FOR EACH FOCUS GROUP (9 PARTICIPANTS WILL BE SEATED; ALL PARTICIPANTS WHO SHOW, EVEN THOSE WHO ARE EXCUSED, WILL RECEIVE THE INCENTIVE).

[If necessary, read definition: Postpartum depression is moderate to severe depression in a woman after she has given birth. It may occur soon after delivery or up to a year later. Most of the time, it occurs within the first 3 months after delivery.]
