Title 21 CFR Section 1312.22 requires
persons who export controlled substances in Schedules I and II to
obtain a permit from DEA. Information is used to issue export
permits, exercise control over exportation of controlled
substances, and compile data for submission to United Nations to
comply with treaty requirements.

Changes in responses and burden
numbers are a result of change in Administration estimates for the
number of responses received annually for this information
collection. Although there has been a decrease in the number of
respondents for this information collection, there has been an
increase in the number of responses and an increase in the cost of
mailing responses to DEA.
