The United States Patent and Trademark
Office (USPTO) has implemented a pilot program in which an
applicant may have an application advanced out of turn (accorded
special status) for examination, for applications pertaining to
green technologies including greenhouse gas reduction.
Specifically, the green technology pilot program permits patent
applications pertaining to environmental quality, energy
conservation, development of renewable energy resources or
greenhouse gas emission reduction to be advanced out of turn
without meeting all of the current requirements of the accelerated
examination program covered under OMB Control Number
0651-0031.
Previously reported burden
hours of 5,500 adjusted by -500 due to the hours being erroneously
reported to OMB in the previous submission, offset by two new items
added into the colleciton, which added 225 responses, 1,320 in
burden hours and $45,110 non-hour cost burden.
