To be eligible for an award under the Investing in Innovation Fund, eligible applicants must meet all the requirements listed below.

To ensure the fulfillment of all these requirements, eligible applicants must the complete the form below. Check the corresponding box on the left side of the chart to indicate that you have met the requirement. Also, please provide the page number(s) where the specific component can be found in the application to support your eligibility.



Checklist for Partnership Applicants*


*A partnership applicant is an applicant that is a partnership between a nonprofit organization and (1) one or more LEAs or (2) a consortium of schools.

The nonprofit organization in the partnership must meet the definition of “nonprofit organization” used in this program--i.e., the organization is an entity that meets the definition of “nonprofit” under 34 CFR 77.1(c), or an institution of higher education as defined by section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended.

Providing Innovations that Improve Achievement for High-Need Students: All eligible applicants must implement practices, strategies, or programs for high-need students (as defined in the Notice of final priorities).



Eligibility Requirements

(1) The Nonprofit organization has a record of significantly improving student achievement, attainment, or retention through the assistance it has provided to an LEA or schools.

(2)The eligible applicant has demonstrated that the private sector will provide matching funds in order to help bring results to scale.

(3) The eligible applicant has described in its application the demographics and other characteristics of any additional LEAs or schools with which it intends to partner and the process it will use to select them as partners. (Eligible applicants must identify its specific partners before a grant award will be made.)
