The Federal Reserve System and other
government agencies would use the survey to monitor activity in the
foreign exchange and derivatives markets. The survey is part of a
data collection effort conducted by over 50 other central banks and
monetary authorities.
The FR 3036 survey is conducted
only once every three years and would be reinstated for the latest
survey. The total burden has decreased since the last survey due to
a decrease in the number of respondents. However, the hourly
estimate for the turnover survey did increase due to (1) additional
data items needed for monitoring growth in the credit derivative
market and (2)additional currencies on the tables for foreign
exchange and interest rate derivatives.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
