* Burden increase due to new
program (voluntary and requested by the respondents). ** NOTE: For
the third IC, Using System to Upload Request Files, Check Status,
Download Results, the cost per participant may be greater or less
than what is actually reported in ROCIS. The reasoning for this is
as follows: 22,590 responses are (correctly) reported for this IC.
However, there are multiple SSN verifications per response, and
while ROCIS multiplies the cost by the total number of responses,
SSA charges for each SSN verification. Because the actual number of
SSN verifications is much higher than the number of responses
(since each response contains multiple verifications), inputting
the cost per verification would result in an understatement of
total cost for this IC. Therefore, we divided the actual total cost
of all verifications by the number of responses and reported that
number. Please see the supporting statement for specifics on the
actual cost per SSN verification.
