The MHTS is a randomized study
designed to test the degree to which eliminating programmatic work
disincentives, establishing an accurate diagnosis and delivering
appropriate mental health and supported employment will lead to
improved functioning and competitive employment among SSDI
beneficiaries with a primary impairment of schizophrenia or
affective disorder. Study outcomes will assess the impact and
effectiveness of the intervention and enable SSA to further develop
ways to improve service to beneficiaries.
We modified the burden
estimates due to a) reduction in the final sample size and b)
revised hours per response. We reduced the final sample size from
3,000 to 2,238, and modified the hours per response to reflect
actual averages. Therefore, we reduced the total burden hours by
approximately 29%. We have modified the estimate costs of data
collection efforts due to the reduction in the sample size. This
resulted in a change in costs for direct data collection in years
2, 3, and 4.
