Section A

A.1 Circumstances Requiring the Collection of Data

Data collections performed under this clearance are made according to Executive Order 12862 which directs federal agencies that provide significant services directly to the public to survey customers to determine the kind and quality of services they want and their level of satisfaction with existing services.
In accordance with Executive Branch and Congressional mandates to provide information dissemination, and under its mission, NIH, Nationals Institutes of Health, continues to expand the availability of vital health information over the Internet. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) led the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) contribution to the International Human Genome Project, which had as its primary goal the sequencing of the human genome. After the successful completion of this project the NHGRI's mission has expanded to encompass a broad range of studies aimed at understanding the structure and function of the human genome and its role in health and disease. To that end NHGRI supports the development of resources and technology that will accelerate genome research and its application to human health. NHGRI also supports the training of investigators and the dissemination of genome information to the public and to health professionals. NHGRI’s Genetics/Genomics Competency Center for Education, G2C2, makes freely available an open source repository of curricular materials and resources designed to provide nursing and physician assistant educators the tools with which to prepare their students to meet the discipline specific competencies in this area of health care. Current Web site users include health care providers such as physicians, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and genetic counselors. The results of this survey would provide guidance for improving Web-based information dissemination service. Authorization to collect these data is given under Section 301 of the Public Health Service Act (42 USC 241).

A.2 Purposes and Uses of the Data
