The electronic proof of income
verification (POI) Internet service, BEVE, provides beneficiaries
the convenience of requesting a proof of income statement through
the Internet. Beneficiaries often require a POI to obtain housing,
Food Stamps, or other public services. The information collected is
used exclusively to provide the POI to the beneficiary, after
verifying the identity of the requestor. The respondents are Social
Security Title II, Title XVI, and Medicare beneficiaries.
There has been an increase in
the public reporting burden from 11,160 to 26,248 hours, as more
users have been using the BEVE system.
