Subject: Request for OMB Approval of the Revised Jacob K. Javits Final Performance Report—CFDA No. 84.170

Attached please find the information collection clearance package for OMB No. 1840-0752, the Final Performance Report for the Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program. In compliance with the performance indicators and efficiency measure for this program in relation to the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), the report collects information from grantee institutions of higher education after the end of the four-year project period to reflect the fellows’ time to degree completion, the employment status of Javits fellows, and the Federal cost per terminal degree (Ph.D./M.F.A.) awarded for the Javits Fellowship Program.

Program staff have revised the Final Performance Report based on an analysis of respondent comments and an evaluation of the data provided by the report. Program staff believe that the revised report will improve the clarity of the document, reduce burden on respondents, and more effectively collect the data necessary to evaluate the projects’ performance and address updated GPRA requirements. Although program staff believe that burden hours for respondents will be reduced as a result of these revisions, the current burden estimate of six hours per response remains the same, pending feedback from respondents after the approved revised Final Performance Report is implemented.
