This memo addresses the Terms of Clearance for the current OMB approval of the Drug and Alcohol Services Information System (DASIS) (OMB No. 0930-0106) conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Office of Applied Studies (OAS).

The Notice of Action for the most recent approval of the DASIS (11/8/2005) stated that “prior to fielding the full 2007 and 2008 N-SSATS surveys SAMHSA shall submit a separate request for OMB review and approval.”

SAMHSA conducted a pretest of the questionnaire for the 2007 National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) and has included the tested changes in the revised version of the questionnaire included in the attached clearance package. No substantial changes are expected in the questionnaire during the next three years, and therefore no additional large scale pretests are requested in the package.
