Recent research suggests that, for
many families, child care subsidy use may be short-lived or
unstable. In order to investigate families# patterns of subsidy use
and exit, data in Illinois and Oregon will be collected to answer
questions related to the factors that lead families to continue or
discontinue use of subsidies, to describe the family
characteristics of those that continue to use subsidies compared to
those that discontinue use, and to describe the nature and
stability of child care arrangements during time periods when
families are not using subsidies.
