considers pretests involving more than 9 individuals to be covered
by the PRA. OMB considers the aggregate number of individuals
involved in all pretesting groups in determining whether a
collection is covered under the PRA. OMB approves the requested
increase in respondent number to 420. Additionally, OMB approves
the revised burden estimates of 20 min for the TUS-CPS and 20
minutes for the debriefing. NIH will submit a revised screener form
as soon as possible but no later than 12/10/04 eliminating the
"other" category to conform with OMB Government wide guidance for
the collection of data on race and ethnicity.

The cross cultural equivalency of the
TUS-CPS will be evaluated by gathering tobacco survey data from
native speakers who are current or former smokers. The interviews,
conducted in English, Spanish, Chinese and Korean, will be behavior
coded.
