One of SSA's major initiatives is to
help the public better understand the Social Security programs. The
Social Security Statement is a major tool in this educational
effort. The Statement is issued automatically each year to workers
age 25 and older who are not receiving benefits. Workers can also
request a Statement at any time using this form. SSA uses
information provided on the form to identify the correct earnings
record, extract the recorded earnings history, calculate estimates
of potential benefits, and produce and mail the Statement.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
