SSA is adding additional evidentiary
requirements for F-1 students who are applying for an SSN, 20 CFR
422.105 & 107. In addition to meeting SSA's requirement to
provide evidence of age, identity, legal alien status, and evidence
of work authorization, F-1 students will also be required to
present evidence that employment has been secured before we will
assign the student an SSN. These rules will further enhance the
integrity of SSA's enumeration processed for assigning
SSNs.
