Qualified physiicans may prescribe or
dispense schedule III, IV and V narcotic drugs or combinations of
such drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for
the treatment of addiction to opiates. The first such medication is
buprenorphine, approved by FDA in October 2002. This survey of
patients newly taking prescription buprenorphine will collect
information upon initiation of treatment and at followup 30 days
and 6 months afterward. The study is designed to investigate the
