months. Upon resubmission, ED will report on the progress of its
e-grants initiative and, specifically, the timeframe in which
electronic signatures may be used in the electronic submission of
this and all other ED information collections. Providing for the
option of electronic submission will bring the collection in line
with GPEA requirements and reduce burden for respondents. ED will
ensure that this information collection remains consistent with the
government-wide grant streamlining initiative. Changes made to

"eligible students" in order for Department of Education staff to
run a formula and make annual awards under already approved three
year operating plans. The data requested from the State is
necessary to run the allocation formula.
