The Head Start Impact Study is a longitudinal study that will involve approximately 5,000-6,000 three-and four-year old children across 75 nationally representative grantees/delegate agencies. The goals of the study are to determine: 1) how Head Start affects the school readiness of children participating in Head Start as compared to children not enrolled in Head Start; and 2) under which conditions Head Start works best and for which children random assignment is used in the design.
