Permits would be required for US
fishing vessels using troll or handline gear to fish for pelagic
management unit species (PMUS) in waters of the US exclusive
economic zone (EEZ) around the US Pacific remote island areas
(PRIA). The PRIA are the distant and mostly uninhabited islands in
the central Pacific Ocean consisting of Howland Island, Baker
Island, Jarvis Island, Wake Island, Kingman Reef, Johnston Atoll,
Palmyra Atoll, and Midway Atoll.
