collection request is approved as agreed in ACFs memos of
4/15,4/15/2002. As agreed, ACF will provide respondents with the
"Plan for Assessing Nominated Programs" to ensure that they have
adequate information on the review criteria. As was previously
discussed, ACF will not attempt to characterize the nominated
programs as representative of innovative or successful
programs.

With increasing understanding and
recognition of the individual and family risk factors that increase
the likelihood of child maltreatment, prevention programs and
initiatives have recently proliferated around the country. The
nature and effectiveness of these programs, however, is not well
understood has not been systematically documented. This project
will utilize a nomination process whereby members of the child
abuse and neglect prevention professional community will nominate
programs and initiatives operating around the country that are
considered effective or emerging. to substantiate each nomination,
