Approved. HHS
will change the term "Handicapped Individuals" on the certification
form to read "Individuals with Disabilities" instead. In addition,
HHS has noted that they are currently exploring alternative systems
to the HCFA-DRG system that is currently being used. HHS feels that
this will be a long-term exploration of the feasibility and
desirability of the other systems (including the APRDRG system).
Therefore, clearance is granted for 3 years; however, if HHS is
ready to make a change to the system prior to the 3 year
expiration, they must come in for a new OMB clearance prior to
making the change. If HHS has not made a change to the system prior
to the expiration of this package, upon resubmission they will
report to OMB about progress in the feasibility tests.
Additionally, the program will move the public burden statement
from the 99-I to the cover page for the overall application
package.
