A nested case-control study will be
conducted to examine the risk of lung cancer mortality among
non-metal miners exposed to diesel exhaust. Detailed information
will be collected on cigarette smoking and other confounders (e.g.,
high-risk occupations for lung cancer, asbestos exposure, silica
exposure, arsenic exposure dietary factors, medical history of
nonmalignant respiratory diseases, as well as each subject's
lifetime exposure to diesel exhaust. This information will allow
investigators to examine the association between lung cancer and
different quantitative measures of diesel exhaust....
