Section 712 of the National Defense
Authorization Act for 2001 requies the DoD to provide health care
services to beneficiaries who are 65 and over who have Medicare
coverage. In order to meet the Congressional mandate in the time
frame prescribed, October 1, 2001 and to maximize the delivery of
health care financing services, the Department must obtain Medicare
and other health insurance information from these individuals, an
estimated 1.5 million beneficiaries, in the June/July
timeframe.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
