errors. In the future ED should carefully review packages prior to
submitting for OMB review and should re-examine the package for
such errors following this approval. (2) This approval lasts for 2
years because the performance report is transitional and further
modifications will be made prior to PY 2001-2002. (3) Prior to the
next submission, ED will continue its efforts to encourage
electronic submissions including the development of software or
web-based templates that contain automatic edit corrections and/or
prepopulate data from previous submissions.

The information contained in the
Consolidated Annual Performance Report for Vocational Technical
Education is needed to monitor the performance of the activities
and services funded under the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and
Technical Education Act of 1998, report to Congress on the levels
of performance achieved on the core indicators of performance,
provide necessary outcome information to meet OVAE's GPRA goals for
vocational technical education, and provide documentation for
incentive awards under title V of the Workforce Investment Act. The
respondents include eligible agencies in 53 States and insular
areas.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
