Public Law 105-277 authorizes SSA to
conduct a Medicare buy-in demonstration project to evaluate means
to promote the Medicare buy-in programs. Elderly and disabled
individuals will be screened for potential Medicare Part B buy-in
eligibility. The screening will be done by SSA and the American
Association of Retired Persons. SSA will also collect information
to identify obstacles to Medicare Part B buy-in enrollments. The
respondents are elderly and disabled individuals under titles XVIII
and XIX of the Social Security Act.
