amended by ED's memos to OMB of 1/16/98, 1/22/98, 1/27/98, and
2/3/98. In addition ED will report to OMB in 1 year from this
approval on possible approaches for collecting data about agreement
partners who partner with institutions of higher education. Also,
this information collection request is given 18 months clearance in
order to assess ED's prograss and strategy for developing a
comprehensive and systematic way to measure performance pursuant to
the proposed single program performance plan for ED's 13
international programs. Finally, in order to reduce burden and
because such information is available to ED in an existing
database, ED will remove the question in the report that asks
grantees to list ED grants they have received to
internationalize.

The data collected through the final
performance report will enable ED officials to determine the impact
of the BIE Federal funds on its recipients. US/ED will use the
information collected to meet GPRA requirements and to provide
budget justifications.
