March 24, 1997. In particular, NIH will make the survey tool
available from its Cancer Information Service's Home Page, allowing
respondents to enter their data online into a comprehensive
national database. NIH must work expeditiously on this project and
submit a written status report on its progress to OMB by September
30, 1997.

The CIS provides the general public,
cancer patients, families, health professionals, and others with
the latest information on cancer. Essential to fulfilling its role
as a referral source for cancer patients and their families is the
identification, acquisition, and dissemination of information about
hospitals, breast and cervical cancer screening clinics, and cancer
pain management programs. This effort involves sending a survey
tool or a verification instrument annually to 17,135
respondents.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
