OMB approves
extension of the currently-approved information collection without
change. HUD has failed to clarify the discrepancy between its
supporting statement that characterizes changes to the collection
of information and its request for approval of a currently approved
information collection without change. A request that HUD clarify
this matter and revise the supporting statment as appropriate was
made on 1/30/97 in a telephone call from Joe Lackey of OMB to
Gloria Diggs of HUD. Because of the uncertaintly regarding the
nature of HUD's request and the fact that HUD is now currently
reviewing this information collection for inclusion in its
Information Streamling Plan, OMB is approving an extension without
change for a 6 month period. HUD should resubmit its request and
fully clarify these matters.
