amended by ED's 11/10/93 memorandum to OMB. ED has agreed to
reexamine the promissory note language regarding student repayment
next year, to determine if the standard language for FFEL notes is
sufficiently clear for the Direct Loan program. ED will ensure that
appropriate counseling materials clearly explain to students that
this language refers only to a loan never used for educational
purposes for the loan period in question, and does not refer to
previous loans properly applied.
