THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO 10 CFR 31
WOULD REQUIRE THAT NRC GENERAL LICENSEES WHO CURRENTLY POSSESS
CERTAIN GAUGES THAT HAVE BOTH AN ACCESSIBLE AIR GAP AND RADIATION
LEVELS THAT EXCEED SPECIFIED VALUES MUST EITHER (1) OBTAIN A
SPECIFIC LICENSE FOR THE GAUGES AND ESTABLISH A RADIATION SAFETY
PROGRAM OR (2) HAVE THE GAUGES PHYSICALLY MODIFIED TO ELIMINATE THE
ACCESSIBLE AIR GAP.

1320.8(b)(3).
