This concept
clearance is approved subject to the following: 1) when developing
the response categories for types of costmetics use FDA will
determine the most useful level of detail for potential problems,
e.g., suntan products should at a minimum be broken down by
sunscreen, oils, after tanning and no sun (coloring occurs
indoors). 2) given the generality of the information that would be
collected, FD should develop a follow-up protocol when potential
problems are identified. FDA agreed to look into emergency
procedures when there are urgent data needs. Such a procedure is
not expected to be used mo than four times a year. 3) The next
information collection request should discuss the limitations of
the data for its intended use, particularly when considering a
special use product i.e., use by a narrowly defined population
segment. 4) FDA has agreed that no regulatory action would be taken
solely on the basis of information from this general usage
survey.
